DEEP

Deep in the depths of darkness
Lie subjects from the past
That still control the way we feel
In ways that are so vast
Manipulated by the one
Who wants us to stay still
As soon as we move forward
He leaps in for the kill.

We have someone near at hand
Who’s ready for the fight
He even went and died for us
So we could follow right
His Spirit is our comforter
He has the power to heal
Refining all the poisoned parts
That decimate our zeal.

So in our darkness, seek the light
That shines upon our gloom
Move aside the cluttered mess
And give Him lot’s of room
Like a surgeon, He will snip
The taproots of our sin
He is so gentle, delicate
Who wouldn’t let Him in?
